Google’s #BestPhonesForever ads show the latest Pixel and iPhone generations in friendly situations. The very name of the ad series states that both are the “best phones,” parodying the “best friends forever” expression. The approach is quite different from Samsung’s, while also allowing Google to show off the exclusive features of its Pixel phones. The most recent #BestPhonesForever ad shows the iPhone worried about not knowing how to respond to its pen pal Guillermo, a calculator from Barcelona. If you’re not aware, pen pals are people (phones in this case) who communicate continuously through letters.
The new Pixel 9 Pro enters the scene when it notices its iPhone pal is in distress. Funnily, Apple’s device did not notice at first because its notifications were muted. While the #BestPhonesForever ads are friendly, Google still uses them to claim that their phones are better. In this case, the ad blames the iPhone’s lack of ideas for conversation topics on the “few” new features of iOS 18. The Pixel phone jokingly suggests the new iOS app icon color customization as a conversation topic.
After a less-than-convincing response from the iPhone, the Pixel suggests using Gemini. While initially unsure, the iPhone is impressed with the capabilities of Google’s AI-powered assistant.
